The "Conférence des grandes écoles"

United by the same demand for quality

The Conférence des Grandes Ecoles is a non-profit-making association created in 1973 and which totals 201 members, including the Ecole Centrale de Lille.

Its assigned role is to:

- Develop internal information, mutual help and solidarity between its members;
- Promote the schools both nationally and internationally;
- Make sure the programmes evolve;
- Develop research;
- Take necessary action with regard to public authority for the good of all members.

The conditions required to join the CGE are very strict; any school wishing to apply must fulfil several requirements:

Issue a degree which is recognised by the State and which follows five years of study after high school :

- Recruit through nationwide competitive entrance examinations;
- Have existed for a certain time;
- Have a pedagogical as well as budgetary autonomy;
- Have a high quality teaching staff;
- Have high quality equipment;
- Have research activities;
- Have an international dimension.

The CGE also certifies as Specialised Master's certain 6-year graduate programmes in harmony with corporate needs.

The Ecole Centrale de Lille is authorised to award three Specialised Master's degrees (MS) :
- Advanced Computer Science and Production Engineering
- Company Creation and Entrepreneurial Studies
- Waves, Nanosciences and Applications
